Challenge 3: Outdoor Learning Rocks!
CREATE/TEST/IMPROVE
• Allow teams to work together to create, examine, and redesign their models. Remind teams to use the criteria from the design challenge to ensure they are meeting the challenge.
• Remind students to record any changes they make along the way, noting their successes and failures.
• Manage materials and ensure students follow safety guidelines. Note: Follow safety guidelines if you use the glue gun to secure rocks to the models. It is recommended that you do not allow students to use the glue gun.
• Remember not to take over the design process.
• Observe teams to assess and provide feedback on their collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and application of content knowledge.
• Encourage students to plan their presentations and how they will showcase their model using the following sentence stems.
