Challenge 3: Outdoor Learning Rocks!
CREATE/TEST/IMPROVE
Allow teams to work together to create, examine, and redesign their models. Remind teams to use the criteria from the design challenge to ensure they are meeting the challenge.
Remind students to record any changes they make along the way, noting their successes and failures.
Manage materials and ensure students follow safety guidelines. Note: Follow safety guidelines if you use the glue gun to secure rocks to the models. It is recommended that you do not allow students to use the glue gun.
Remember not to take over the design process.
Observe teams to assess and provide feedback on their collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and application of content knowledge.
Encourage students to plan their presentations and how they will showcase their model using the following sentence stems.

The materials we used were . . .
First we tried , then we . . .
